19th May 2003 Windsurfing: Porthcawl - Newton Wind Direction: W Wind Stength: F2-6 Surf / Sea State: Very churned up furhter out in Air Temperature: 10C Sea Temperature: Warming up nicely Weather: Sunny! Max Speed: Distance Covered: Got out on the water about 18:30 (HW 21:50). Rigged up 5.5m at first but then saw another guy who'd just rigged the same size get totally overpowered further out. Changed down to my 4.7m on the 78l JP Wave. First airing for both of these this year! Usual story at Newton in W wind - no wind on the beach & masses further out, making it a real struggle to get out & then get mullered by the huge wind & steep swells out in the bay!! Just can't win. As the tide came up, so the beach became more sheltered, to the point when I could no longer get off the beach at all. |
